The first day of Spring is March 21st, but we all know it’s still 35 degrees out. At least in this part of the country. I lived in Florida for almost 2 years before this past summer, but I still know how it doesn’t get consistently warm until late May/Early June, no joke. We’ll get a couple of hot days and then back to cold. Spring is such a tease.
Because of the mixed signals Spring sends us, it’s always hard to decide what to wear. Should we start debuting the spring trends we’re all dying to wear while braving the chilly air? Should we forget the eternity scarves and riding boots?
I say no, not entirely. Here are some guidelines to help get you fashionably excited for Spring while still preventing yourself from catching a cold.
Keep the Colorful Printed Scarves
I would lose the dark, aztec printed scarves but keep the colorful chevron ones. Chevron appeared late winter but it’s here to stay until Fall.
Pair lace shorts & Skirts with Stockings & Blouses
If you’re dying to wear your new lace shorts or skirt, wear them with neutral stockings or even black ones. The contrast of black and mint green or coral looks awesome and your legs get to stay cozy. Pair the skirt or shorts with a tucked in sheer blouse you have left over from winter and layer with a bright bauble necklace.
Wear Pastel Sweaters
Whip out those mint green sweaters and pastels! The colors scream Spring but you still get to stay warm in long sleeves. Plus, these springy sweaters are still cute with a skirt or pair of shorts once it gets a little warmer.
Keep the Brown Boots
I definitely wore my black riding boots often this winter, but now I am going to get more use out of my brown ones for early Spring. The neutral shade is lighter for Spring and will match all those pastels and colors.
Get Use Out of the Chambray Shirt
I tried to wear my chambray shirt this winter but it just didn’t keep me warm enough. Now I know I will get a lot of use out of it for Spring because it’s not only a light color but the material is light as well, and it will look awesome with any skirt or paired with colored jeans.
Wear Colorful Flats
Perfect for the workplace, colorful flats go with skirts, dresses, and even jeans. You don’t have to wear socks, but you’re still baring some ankle. I’m not sure I’d whip out the open toed wedges just yet!
